About Mokveld Valves B.V.
This company from Gouda is the inventor of the so-called axial valve for the oil and gas industry. The valve contains a piston that moves in line with the axis of the pipeline. Mokveld Valves is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year (2022). The company has earned its reputation with typical Gouda products and made a strategic shift in the mid-20th century — one that continues to pay off — by focusing on the development and production of valves for the gas industry, as well as for the oil and water sectors. "You can best compare our systems to a water tap," says Mokveld CEO Stefan Weeber. "They can be opened and closed very precisely, allowing for highly accurate control of the flow through pipelines." Each year, around two thousand of these valves are manufactured at their factory in Gouda. "Everything is made to order," says Weeber. Mokveld specializes in large-diameter, high-pressure valve systems, serving clients in the gas industry such as NAM and Gasunie.**
About the introduction of PRO.FILE and its purpose
Because the amount of documentation per project grew over the years from a well-filled folder to entire books and even boxes full, and every customer put forward different wishes and requirements, it became quite a job for Mokveld to get everything perfect. ‘Our document controllers had set up their own database, but it simply became too complex’, says Weeber. ‘Also because those documents often go back and forth a few times and you therefore have to deal with different versions. Our own paper archive simply started to fill up.’ It had to be easier and better. So about twenty years ago, the Gouda company started looking for a professional document management system (DMS) and ended up with PRO.FILE.
PRO.FILE user from day one
Over the years, Mokveld has continued to roll out PRO.FILE within the organization. In addition to the project organization and document controllers, the engineering department and drawing office also use it. R&D, with its various CAD/CAM systems, is also connected to it. ‘That makes everything much more transparent,’ says Weeber. ‘Because we know when something comes in and when it needs to be sent, we can manage it much better. We hardly ever get any criticism of our documentation anymore.’ Mokveld’s valves are often located in critical places in an installation. That means that the valves have a label and the entire document flow must be immediately available for service or maintenance. ‘Then it is ideal if you can retrieve the file in question straight away,’ says Weeber.
