System supplier Addit carries out work for a variety of OEMs. With this, their own business process is carefully monitored. This is done not only to monitor the quality of the products, but also to keep an eye on whether improvements are possible that can shorten the lead time of products and reduce costs. In the role of system supplier that builds, assembles and supplies complete machines, Addit deals with large amounts of design data and an extensive supply chain. The amount of data processed within the company has increased enormously in recent years.
About the introduction of PRO.FILE and its purpose
Jeroen Meulendijks, technical director of Addit, says: “There really has been a data explosion, because nowadays all the details related to a machine to be built must be recorded. That is a good thing, because it benefits the quality of the product, but it does require us to take the right steps to maintain an overview. That is why we made the decision in 2016 to invest in a solution for data management. Because the implementation of such a system is very drastic, we first conducted thorough research to see what the best solution for us would be. It quickly became clear to us that an investment in a PLM system not only required a link with our CAD system, in our case Creo Elements Direct Modelling, but also with our ERP package.
