PRO.FILE is seamlessly integrated with Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D. The project and sub-project structures created in AutoCAD Plant 3D along with all drawings and plans in AutoCAD Plant 3D are stored in PRO.FILE.

PRO.FILE supports the following categories in AutoCAD Plant 3D:

  • Plant design project
  • P&ID sub-project
  • ISO sub-project
  • Ortho sub-project
  • MISC sub-project
  • Pipe classes

All DWG drawings belonging to the projects / sub-projects from these categories along with any existing external references (XREF) are captured as PRO.FILE objects and classified according to the attribute system for documents in PRO.FILE. The project and sub-project structures used in AutoCAD Plant 3D are mapped as a document structure in PRO.FILE.

Drawings from AutoCAD Plant 3D can be automatically converted to PDF, PDF/A, TIF and more. The conversion runs in the background using the PRO.FILE Generic Job Server. Users can choose to convert their drawings to a neutral format as the document status changes throughout the approval and change process or whenever they need it. The PDF or PDF/A versions of a drawing are versioned along with the original document.
The integration allows for the bidirectional synchronization of data between PRO.FILE and AutoCAD Plant Suite, which means that the metadata from Plant objects can be synchronized bidirectionally with the attribute fields in PRO.FILE.

Importing pipe definitions:
Pipe templates that were defined in Autodesk P&ID can be loaded into PRO.FILE using a load module. They can then be used in AutoCAD Plant 3D projects.
The next step will be to implement the versioning of CAD documents. In the future, users will be able to create part master records and bills of materials from Plant 3D in PRO.FILE.
