Parallel engineering and smart IT systems shorten the time-to-market.

Addit has invested heavily in such new IT tools in the past 3 years. After thorough research, they bought the PRO.FILE system from PLM Xpert. This is a PDM (product data management) system in which all technical information per customer and per product is stored compact and clear. It took 2 years before all technical information for all products was entered and the employees were intensively trained in their use. All changes that are made are immediately documented.
Up-to-date transparent information is available at all times for all projects. Or as Peter Kerstjens puts it: "Previously, the knowledge about a project was partly in dozens of binders of an engineer and partly in his head. Now all knowledge is in the system and is directly accessible to all involved

To properly manage all these complex matters for many different customers in the various life cycle stages in many different segments, you need a good IT infrastructure. Among other things, modern tools that enable your people to meet the increasing pressure to deliver faster and to exchange information faster.

Always the most recent product info
In a second phase, a new ERP system was also implemented. Addit chose Ridder IQ because it fits well with the PRO.FILE PLM software. "It was very important to us that we can automatically transform all technical data from PDM to the ERP system," says Kerstjens.
"We have also invested in a separate shop floor system. This allows us to offer all product information digitized to our employees on the production floor. Sometimes this goes via PCs attached to machines, but we also have 24 mobile workstations that can be placed anywhere in the factory. In this way, our employees always have the most recent technical documentation. They can easily find data, retrieve instructions, watch videos or communicate with engineers to pass on improvements.
Order folders with all kinds of drawings or thick documents with assembly instructions: fortunately it is all a thing of the past. "Now that the growing pains have been resolved, Addit will take the next steps in 2020 to further optimize its IT systems.
"Now we are going to take the real profit," says Kerstjens. "We first connected our employees, this year we will link suppliers to our digital processes. You often see that companies only use about 30% of the potential of the system after an implementation. That's really not going to happen to us! "
