Mechanics and electronics have always been two completely different worlds, each with their own ways of thinking and solutions. They each work with different data and product structures and use separate authoring software and databases. This, but also because the two disciplines do not work in parallel, makes mutual coordination very difficult. Where MCAD and ECAD connect, many tasks are still performed manually. Engineers share installation data, cable lengths or plug connections via Excel tables or by email.
A prerequisite for connecting these two worlds is that the PDM/PLM system MCAD and ECAD data must be managed in a common database. PRO.FILE is the connecting link here.
